Product Description
Here we have a really cool vintage 1974 Yamaha SG-50 from Japan! This guitar is in good condition overall and sports a "brown" finish.
Features include a katsura body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and dot inlays. It has a 12" radius, 24 3/4" scale length, and 1 5/8" nut width. It has a tune-o-matic style bridge with stop tailpiece, Yamaha die cast tuners, and a black guard. It's loaded with a set of 1157F Yamaha humbucking pickups.
The guitar is in nice shape overall for its age. It looks like the nut has been replaced and it may have been refretted before. The frets appear to have been dressed and are a bit low, but still play ok. The guard has quite a bit of pick wear and there are light topical scratches over the body. There are some light dings and nicks around the edges with a few light marks on the back of the neck.
This one weighs in at 7lbs 4oz. The neck measures .800 to .960 at the 1st and 12th. It has a rounded C profile that feels great. The guitar is quite loud acoustically with excellent sustain and resonance. Tonally it has a warm mid-range sound with good top end clarity. Overall a well-balanced guitar that is a fun player!
Ships in an original Yamaha hardshell case and includes an old polish cloth.
