2002 to Present Jackson Custom Shop & USA Select Serial Numbers

Jackson Guitars was acquired by Fender Musical Instruments in late 2002, and production was moved to Fender's Corona, CA facility. Jackson has continued to serialize Custom Shop and USA Select guitars similarly to instruments produced throughout the 80s and 90s. Custom Shop Randy Rhoads models have an "RR" prefix serial, while other Custom Shop neck through models have a "J" prefix serial stamped at the last fret in the fingerboard. USA Production models have a "U" prefix serial number (not the letters "UO" necessarily like earlier production years) stamped at the last fret in the fingerboard. Bolt-On guitars continue the numbered sequence on the neckplate similar to 80s and 90s instruments. As of the publishing of this article, the Jackson Guitars website has a database search function that allows you to use the serial number to look up the year of manufacture, part number, and specifications for Jackson instruments produced during the FMIC era.

2013 to Present Jackson JS, X and Pro Series Guitar Serial Numbers with 10 Digits

Jackson JS, X and Pro Series guitars that were made from 2013 until present day feature a 10-digit alphanumeric serial number located either on the back of the headstock or on the neckplate. For example, a guitar with the serial number ICJ1300001 was made in 2013. A guitar with serial number MXJ2000433 was made in 2020. A guitar with ICJ2500335 was made in 2025. Additionally, the 3 letter prefix denotes the factory where the item was made, as well as the brand of the product. ICJ indicates the guitar was manufactured in Indonesia (I) by the Cort/Cor-Tek (C) factory for Jackson (J). MXJ indicates the guitar was manufactured in Mexico (MX) by Fender Musical Instruments for Jackson (J).

The American Series instruments are built in Corona, CA by Fender Musical Instruments.
