Product Description

This is a very cool piece of Fender history, a White High Steel produced in 1956 at the Fullerton, CA factory. The High Steel is an alder body lap steel with optional screw-in legs that are height adjustable, similar to a Fender Studio Deluxe model. The White High Steel was sold in a set with the infamous White amplifier, though no amp is included with this listing.

This steel features a metal stenciled fingerboard plate, one single coil pickup, volume and tone controls, and Kluson plastic button tuners. The finish is done in white, though it has a blue/gray hue about it that is very pleasing. It has a single steel saddle that can be intonated, almost like a giant Tele saddle. It is serial number HS10020.

This one has been played quite extensively, the stencil for the fret markers is quite worn away in certain areas. The body has a number of small dings and dents over its surface. The plastic bridge cover has one of the posts broken off inside the post hole. It functions correctly though, the pickup is solid and strong, and the pots work fine.

This White High Steel ships in the original case which is in great overall condition. It includes the 3 adjustable legs, as well as a Stevens tone bar and a handful of vintage finger picks. Very good overall condition.
