Product Description
Here we have a great sounding 14-Fret OM Custom Build. This one is not branded, but is signed on the underside of the top and dated 2005.
Specs include a cedar top, koa sides, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The back is 3-piece and appears to be rosewood and figured koa. It has block inlays, a 1 11/16” nut width, 25.4” scale length and a rosewood bridge. The body is 19 3/8” long, 15 1/8” wide and 4 1/2” deep at the heel block. It has a scalloped X brace, two scalloped tone bars and a small maple bridge plate.
The entire instrument has a nice satin finish. The sides, neck and center of the back all exhibit light figuring, and there is even a touch of bear claw in the top. It is in excellent shape overall and does not appear to have been played much. There are some light topical marks upon close inspection but no wholesale damage. There is a hairline crack in the fingerboard extension, but it appears stable.
It weighs in right at 4lbs. The neck measures .810 to .910 at the 1st and 9th frets. It has a medium C neck shape that is comfortable to play and one that stays fairly consistent in depth up until the neck heel transition. The guitar seems to be finely crafted and plays quite well. It has a big, open sound with excellent clarity and a warm mid-range. There is good resonance throughout the instrument along with a touch of natural reverb emanating from within.
Ships in a Guild hardshell case.
