Here we have a beautiful Takamine PT-406 parlor sized acoustic guitar from 1994! This one was built in Japan and is in excellent condition overall.
Specs include a figured koa top, figured koa back/sides, a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge and slotted headstock. It has a 14 fret neck joint with a 1 5/8” nut width, 25 3/8” scale length, 14” lower bout width and a 4” body depth at the neck heel.
The guitar has been very well maintained and is crack free. It has some faint topical scratches, mostly on the back from polishing or handling. There are a few faint, tiny dings when inspected closely, but ultimately this one has no real damage to note.
The guitar weighs 4lbs 7oz. The neck measures .850 to .980 at the 1st and 9th frets. It has a vintage soft V neck profile with a rounded shoulder and just a hint of a V at the apex. The guitar has warm mids with nice top end clarity and excellent sustain. Being a parlor, it has an intimate sound with medium volume, but nice colorful overtones. The build quality is excellent, and the guitar’s features are vintage-inspired. Plus, the onboard electronics are a nice addition.
