A very cool PRS Custom 24 from January of 2020, the longstanding flagship of the PRS line. By this time the Custom 24 had evolved into many of the specs we see through today with a five way blade switch, 85/15 pickups, the Gen III tremolo, and the Phase III locking tuners. Some of the new features introduced in 2020 were the TCI tuning for their pickups and Nitro-Cellulose finish on their core models. The wiring on the five way blade is fairly unique, with position two giving you the bridge humbucker with the neck split to single coil and position four being both pickups split into single coils. The iconic bird inlays were upgraded to a pearl outlined with ivoroid, which is a real classy look.

This particular example has a nicely figured maple top with the ever popular Black Gold Burst finish. The stain and gloss finish on the top really set off the figuring, which borders on quilt maple in some areas. The back is a dark brown stain, showing off the beautiful grain of the mahogany. The brass input jack and details on the bridge and tuners look sharp as well. The neck has the Pattern Thin shape, which would subsequently become the standard on Custom 24s, and measures in at .80" at the first fret to .89" at the twelfth fret. The serial number, 0296949, is inked onto the back of the headstock. The rosewood of the fretboard is the beautiful and dark look we all love, and is nicely uniform across the scale.

This one is in overall excellent cosmetic condition and perfect functional condition, with only light signs of play wear and handling throughout. There is a ding in the edge of the top near the volume control and two more between the input jack and the strap button. The back shows some light scratching into the clear and there is a small ding on the headstock directly under the low E string. The guitar is set up perfectly, as one can expect from PRS, achieving action that nearly defies belief. It sounds great, with plenty of character and a wide spectrum of frequency response. It's very lively acoustically and achieves an incredible sustain before even being amplified.
