Here we have a 1988 Ken Smith BT-4 bass guitar! This one is in very good condition for its age and plays great.
It is loaded with exotic tone woods and the body appears to have a rosewood top with a mahogany center, maple accents, and a walnut back. These wings flank a 5-piece maple/mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard. It’s a double cutaway bass with neck through body construction. It has a 34” scale length with a 1.5” nut width. It’s loaded with active electronics and Ken Smith pickups.
The bass has clearly been played but also well cared for. It has a handful of small dings and topical marks. The parts and hardware show light signs of use and light patina. The finish is thin, sunken into the wood pores, and glossier in the high touch areas. It is void of buckle wear or major damage. The frets are in good shape and the instrument appears to be in original condition.
It weighs 9lbs 7oz. The neck measures .820 to .880 at the 1st and 12th frets. It has a rounded C profile down low that fades into more of an oval C higher up the register. The bass sounds as good as it looks, with a deep, round bass note, but nice attack and clarity. It’s well balanced and plays effortlessly up and down the neck.
Ships in the original hardshell case and includes a Ken Smith strap.
