Product Description
Here we have a cool-looking vintage Old Kraftsman Dreadnought from Kay! This one is from the end of the 50s or early 60s and is in good condition overall.
It has a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and rosewood bridge. It is an X-braced guitar with a 15 1/2” lower bout, 4 1/4” body depth, 1 5/8” nut width and a 25 5/8” scale length. It has Deluxe strip tuners with white buttons, a screw down tortoise guard and big dot inlays.
This one has been played hard, but also survived quite well. There is buckle wear on the back of the body, capo wear on the back of the neck, and a couple of large patches of strum wear on the top. There is checking over the surface of the finish along with a number of scratches and dings. It is void of cracks or major damage though.
This one weighs 4lbs 6oz. The neck measures .980 to 1.020 at the 1st and 9th. It has a large D shaped neck with a nice shoulder, but plays comfortably with the nut width. The guitar has a long scale and really wants to be played hard to get up to volume. It has a warm mid-range tone with good clarity, medium volume and good sustain. The action is a touch high and intonation is pretty close, but certainly could be improved with some work put in.
Ships in a vintage chipboard case.
