Product Description

Here we have a fun Kay K-300 electric guitar from 1962!

Specs include figured maple top and back veneers, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The neck is bound with block inlays and a tortoise headstock veneer. It has the original DeArmond Speed Bump single coil pickups along with the non-adjustable rosewood bridge. It has a 25 3/4" scale with a 1 5/8" nut width.

The guitar is in good shape with some notes. It has a modern set of gold Kluson tuners on it and the nut has been changed. There appears to have been another tailpiece or bridge attached at one point, but is now back to stock. The silhouette around the bridge appears to be from the original bridge cover which is now missing. A few pickguard screws are missing. The guard appears to have been decorated with small circular adhesives which were removed and left residue. There is checking and other wear over the instrument's original finish.

The guitar plays well below the 15th fret. It has some tail rise and frets out beyond 15. The frets show light wear down low and appear to have been dressed previously. They are quite low and flat. The guitar could benefit from some fret / fretboard work or be used for slide playing.

Beyond all of that, it actually plays quite well down low and is a load of fun! The guitar weighs 7lbs 13oz. The neck measures .950 to 1.010 at the 1st and 12th. It has a warm and mellow mid-range off the body with a nice glassy treble. It has some Strat vibes tonally, but is certainly all Kay through an amp!

Ships in a Peavey padded gig bag.
