Description
The JAM Pedals Harmonious Monk mk.2 is an all-analog masterpiece engineered in collaboration with Dan and Mick from That Pedal Show. Designed to be the definitive take on vintage modulation, the mk.2 builds on the pristine analog circuitry of its predecessor, delivering everything from subtle, historic amplitude pulsing to complex, multi-dimensional harmonic tremolo. By adding tap-tempo integration, customizable dynamic speed ramping, and expanded multi-instrument utility, the mk.2 claims its place as a powerhouse tone tool for both stage and studio work.
To fully understand the Harmonious Monk, you have to look at its dual-mode engine. While standard amplitude tremolo simply modulates the volume of your signal up and down, the Harmonic mode replicates the legendary "vibrato" circuits of rare, early-1960s Fender Brownface amplifiers. This complex method splits your signal into high and low frequency bands and modulates them in alternating directions, resulting in an ethereal, three-dimensional swirl that mimics a vintage rotary speaker cabinet or a chewy, old-school Uni-Vibe.
Advanced LFO Waveforms & Dual-Engine Modes
The layout provides effortless control over your primary modulation depth, speed, master volume level, and dry/wet blend, while two interactive toggle switches alter the pedal's foundational architecture:
-
Harmonic vs. Amplitude Mode (Top Toggle): Selects between the rich, phase-shifting swirl of harmonic modulation and the classic, woodier volume swell of vintage amplitude tremolo.
-
3-Way LFO Shape Selector (Bottom Toggle): Adjusts the modulation wave behavior between a smooth, vintage-correct Sine wave, an aggressive and choppy Square wave, and a newly added Reverse Sawtooth wave for unique, ramped rhythmic accents.
-
The CHOP Feature (Kill-Dry): When operating in Amplitude mode with a Square wave selected, turning the Depth control all the way to the right activates a hard-gated staccato pulse, alternating between complete silence and full signal for dramatic, rhythmic patterns.
Tap Tempo, Speed Ramping, & Legacy Modes
The mk.2 transitions the pedal into a true performance instrument with the introduction of a smart dual-function secondary footswitch:
-
Tap & Ramp Mode: Allows you to instantly tap in your master tempo. Holding down the TAP footswitch triggers an organic speed ramp to a second, user-set destination velocity—letting you create swirling accents or dramatic transition mood shifts on the fly.
-
Legacy Mode: Reverts the secondary switch back to a dedicated speed multiplier, expanding on the original version by letting you instantly cycle your tap rate into a double-speed (x2) factor or an articulate dotted-eighth (x1.5) rhythmic subdivision.
Deep Rig Integration & Tuning
-
Optimized Input Gain Trimmer: A newly added internal input trimmer joins the three established wet-path EQ trimmers (Treble, Mids, Bass). This allows tech-minded players to optimize the internal headroom of the pedal for high-output electric bass pickups, line-level vintage synthesizers, or traditional single-coil setups.
-
Selectable Power-Up State: Features programmable internal memory, allowing you to choose whether the pedal initializes immediately in an "on" state or remains safely bypassed upon receiving centralized pedalboard power.
-
Mechanical True Bypass: High-grade true bypass switching preserves your core instrument signal completely uncolored whenever the effect is disengaged.
