Description
The JAM Pedals Delay Llama XTREME is a flagship, all-analog delay station that pushes Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) circuitry into completely uncharted territory. Handcrafted in Athens, Greece, this pedal combines the organic, warm decay of three vintage-spec 3205 BBD chips with an advanced digital control matrix. Delivering up to 800ms of rich analog delay, tap tempo with subdivisions, preset storage, and deep external integration, the XTREME version serves as the definitive tool for traditional slapback purists and adventurous sound designers alike.
While the pedal retains a 100% analog signal path for your core delay trails, its digital brain unlocks deep, performance-driven utility. Dedicated toggle switches allow you to instantly activate a Kill Dry mode for parallel effects loops, or choose between pristine mechanical True Bypass and a premium Buffered Bypass that allows your delay trails to decay naturally when the pedal is turned off.
Four Avant-Garde XTREME Modulation Modes
By holding down the middle footswitch, you unlock the pedal's signature XTREME engine. This section introduces four bold, musical LFO and pitch-shifting modifiers that interact directly with the analog BBD clock:
-
Vibrato (1 LED): Imparts a lush, sine-wave LFO modulation over the repeats. Users can hold the ALT button to adjust modulation Depth and Speed via the primary control knobs.
-
Tape-Age (2 LEDs): Artfully emulates the random, organic pitch warble and mechanical deviation of a worn, vintage tape echo transport system.
-
Random (3 LEDs): Automatically shifts the delay time across fixed rhythmic increments based on your tap tempo, producing striking, unpredictable pitch drops and geometric rhythmic clusters.
-
Pitch-Shift (4 LEDs): Introduces an analog pitch-shifting sequencer. This mode grants access to 5 selectable pitch intervals (ranging from subtle seconds to sweeping octaves) and 5 distinct playback patterns, including a step-sequencer.
Onboard Presets & Performance Architecture
The Delay Llama XTREME features a smart three-footswitch layout designed for flawless real-time manipulation on stage. The center switch lets you instantly cycle between Manual mode and **4 onboard user presets**, allowing you to save and recall distinct combinations of delay time, subdivisions, feedback, and XTREME modes on the fly. The Tap Tempo footswitch also pulls double duty: tap it to set your time, or hold it down down to engage a **momentary oscillation (HOLD) function** for cascading, self-generating walls of analog feedback.
Comprehensive Studio & Live Routing
To fit perfectly into professional touring rigs and studio setups, the side panel features extensive connectivity options:
-
Expression / CV Input (DT): Allows you to control delay time remotely via a standard expression pedal or a 0–5V CV controller (assignable via internal dip switches).
-
Remote Preset Input (PS): Accepts external TRS controllers to instantly recall presets 1 through 4 via remote switching.
-
Remote Tap Input (TAP): Connects any standard external TS momentary footswitch for convenient tempo mapping anywhere on your board.
-
Internal Tuning: Features a multi-turn internal trimmer to set the maximum self-oscillation ceiling, alongside a dedicated decay trimmer for the buffered bypass trails.
