Description
Here we have a brand new Gretsch G6138 Bo Diddley in Firebird Red! This is a factory-fresh instrument handcrafted in Japan as part of the Gretsch Professional Collection — and it is one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable guitars ever made.
Bo Diddley rocked fans with his sterling chops, electrifying showmanship, and outrageous guitars for more than 50 years, and the G6138 is a faithful reproduction of the famous rectangular guitar Gretsch built especially for him in 1958. There is nothing else like it — the striking semi-hollow rectangular body is a visual statement as bold as the music it was built to play. The Firebird Red gloss urethane finish makes it pop even more, and the gold hardware, 1957-style headstock, and special Bo Diddley signature truss rod cover complete an instrument that is as much a piece of rock 'n' roll history as it is a playable guitar.
It's loaded with a pair of High Sensitive Filter'Tron humbucking pickups that deliver the punchy, articulate tone Diddley was known for — full of midrange presence and immediate transient response. The three-piece rock maple neck has a comfortable playing feel and a 12"-radius ebony fingerboard with dot pearl inlays, making it easy to navigate across the full register. The Adjusto-Matic bridge and "G"-cutout tailpiece provide stable tuning and solid string tension, while the semi-hollow body gives the instrument a natural resonance and warmth that solidbody guitars simply can't match.
It ships brand new in its original Gretsch packaging with a hardshell case and all factory documentation. A truly legendary instrument — and one that looks as extraordinary on a wall as it sounds on a stage.
