Description
Here we have a brand new Gretsch G6120T-BSSMK Brian Setzer Signature Nashville Hollow Body '59 "Smoke" with Bigsby in Smoke Orange! This is a factory-fresh instrument handcrafted in Japan — and it's one of the most compelling signature guitars Gretsch has ever put out.
Brian Setzer doesn't need much introduction. From spearheading the rockabilly revival with the Stray Cats to jump-starting Big Band Swing with the Brian Setzer Orchestra, he's one of the most exciting and accomplished guitarists of his generation — three Grammy Awards, over 13 million records sold, and the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award to prove it. "Smoke" is a recreation of his main stage guitar since retiring the famed 'Stray Cat,' and it's a painstaking homage to one of his most treasured instruments. The Smoke Orange semi-gloss lacquer finish is a rich, period-correct look that captures the vintage '59 vibe perfectly, while the rolled fingerboard and body edges give it that broken-in feel found only in the prized G6120s from the 1950s.
Beneath the vintage exterior, Smoke is a true modern workhorse. The single-cutaway hollow body has an arched laminated maple top with 1959 trestle bracing and oversized F-holes for improved sonic projection — this is a guitar built to be heard. It's loaded with a pair of TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups that deliver timeless tone with excellent bass response and shimmering Filter'Tron sparkle. The maple neck has a 9.5"-12" compound radius ebony fingerboard and a vintage 'V' neck shape that works equally well for comfortable chording or lightning-fast leads.
For complete roadworthy stability, Smoke is equipped with an Adjusto-Matic bridge on a pinned rosewood base, a Bigsby B6CGH vibrato tailpiece, a Delrin nut, and Gotoh locking tuning machines. Period-correct details abound — the '59 headstock shape and logo, pickguard shape and bracket, volume, tone and switch locations — all contributing to an instrument that looks and feels like a genuine piece of rock 'n' roll history.
It ships brand new in its original Gretsch packaging with a hardshell case and all factory documentation. A remarkable signature guitar that honors one of the greatest rockabilly guitarists of all time.
Period-Correct 1959 "Smoke" Body Architecture & Trestle Bracing
Crafted to the exacting specifications of Brian Setzer’s prized vintage original, this signature model features a 16-inch hollow maple body with a comfortable 2.75-inch depth. The top is supported by traditional 1959 trestle bracing, which physically bridges the top and back to reinforce structural rigidity and maximize acoustic energy transfer. This historic configuration delivers the open, airy woody depth of a classic archtop while actively dampening unwanted vibrations to handle high-volume stage environments without feedback.
Custom TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter'Tron Pickups
The distinct sonic muscle of this Nashville is driven by a pair of custom-voiced TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups. Designed to flawlessly replicate the earliest, historically pure Filter'Tron designs, these humbuckers produce an exceptionally clear, articulate top-end chime paired with a tight, muscular low-end snap and tremendous touch sensitivity. Running through a stripped-down, hot-rodded control circuit featuring a master volume with a treble-bleed circuit, they translate every picking nuance with raw vintage fidelity.
Performance-Optimized String-Thru Bigsby B6WSH Vibrato
Engineered for flawless pitch modulation and rapid on-stage maintenance, the hardware package centers on a polished aluminum Bigsby B6WSH string-thru vibrato tailpiece. By routing the strings continuously through the roller bar rather than securing them to traditional pins, string changes become effortless while maintaining optimal physical down-pressure. This setup works in absolute harmony with a pinned rosewood base holding an Adjusto-Matic bridge, ensuring rock-solid intonation and uniform string-break angles during aggressive note bends.
Vintage-Spec Neck Profiling and Pro-Level Playability
Built for rapid fingerstyle and rockabilly fretwork, the maple set-neck features a highly comfortable, era-accurate 1959 gentle "V" profile finished in a thin, resonant semi-gloss lacquer. The neck is paired with a premium 9.5”-12” compound-radius ebony fingerboard housing 22 medium jumbo frets and a durable bone nut. This modern compound contour ensures effortless low-register chording near the nut while flattening out beautifully as you move up the neck, preventing notes from choking out during expressive pitch bends.
