Description
Here we have a very cool vintage 1955 Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet! This guitar is in very good condition overall.
Specs include a maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The body is chambered semi-solid, with a cantilevered set neck. It has a G tailpiece, Melita bridge, Waverly tuners and a set of DeArmond Dynasonic pickups. The scale length is 24 1/2β with a 1 11/16β nut width.
The neck looks to have been reset with the finish worn around the heel and other signs of work in the area. The angle is very good and the guitar sets up nicely. Additionally, a pervious owner has inscribed the name βMcLeanβ prominently into the back of the instrument, and again more delicately on the front. The guitar also shows light scratches, dings and signs of use. The binding is in good condition and the components appear original.
This one is an early 1955 with a 13000 serial number etched onto the backplate. There is no interior label. It has the original style white guard and pre-arrow knobs. It weighs in at 7lbs 1oz. The neck measures .890 to .980 at the 1st and 10th. It has a full neck carve with an oval C type of feel. It has a ton of natural reverb and colorful overtones acoustically. It plays great up and down the neck, with a pair of bold, sparkly pickups.
Ships in the original hardshell case and includes the strap and case key.
