Here we have a very cool looking 1986 Les Paul Custom. This one has clearly graced many stages over the years! It's a maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck guitar from a period in production where Gibson was finally using lighter weight, correct woods again.

 
The finish on this guitar is smoked out, the binding is orangish in hue as the lacquer has antiqued naturally quite heavily. The body shows quite a bit of checking as well, and the color is almost charcoal in certain lights. The back of the neck is still quite black, having been played and worn through in areas, it didn't pick up quite so much of the color from the atmosphere. The headstock face is similar to the body. The guitar blacklights correctly. There do not appear to be any breaks or issues. There is a faint old guitar bar smell about, but it's also been cleaned up and aired out.

The electronics are original and the guitar has been refretted with jumbo wire. It feels and plays fantastic. It's resonant, lively, and slinky. The folks at Gibson nailed it with this one. It weighs 9lbs 8oz. The neck is a slimmer modern C as to be expected from the era. It measures .810 to .970 at the 1st and 12th.
