Description
Here we have a super cool 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom! This one has been played extensively and is in good shape overall.
Specs include a maple top, mahogany body, maple neck and ebony fingerboard. It has the Gibson branded Schaller tuners with built-in winders, as well as a stop tailpiece and Tune-O-Matic bridge. The guitar is loaded with a set of Tim Shaw humbuckers stamped 392 481 and 393 481.
This one shows quite a bit of wear over the surface, including a bit of exposed wood on the back of the neck. The back of the body has buckle wear and the gold plating on the hardware is worn. It has been refretted, has a replaced nut, and has newer strap buttons. The finish and components appear original otherwise.
The guitar weighs 10lbs 6oz. The neck measures .810 to .990 at the 1st and 12th. It has a medium sized D shaped carve that fills out a touch as it transitions into the neck heel. This one is a solid example of the era, with a bit of weight to the body, but good playability. It has a tight and focused low end with scooped mids and a nice clear top end. It was clearly played a ton and for good reason!
