Product Description
Here we have a vintage 1947 Gibson L-5. This non-cutaway archtop is in very good condition overall.
Features include a carved spruce top, carved figure maple back, figured maple neck, ebony fretboard and block inlays. It has Kluson Sealfast tuners, an L-5 Varitone tailpiece, rosewood bridge and tortoise guard. The scale length is 25.5" inches. It has a 3-digit white A serial number label.
The guitar shows checking and light wear over its surface. It shows signs of a DeArmond pickup on the top with a few different pickguard mounting holes in the treble side of the neck. One of the tuners is replaced with a correct-style part. The pickguard is a modern replacement done in the correct style. The guitar has been refretted and has a replaced nut. There is no endpin.
This one weighs 6lbs 9oz. The neck measures .890 to 1.040 at the 1st and 10th. It has a full, rounded neck profile without too much shoulder. The guitar is loud with a very nice tone. It has warm low mids and clear, trebley highs. The top drives easily and the guitar has plenty of sustain. It's one of the nicer sounding post-war examples we've had.
Ships in the original Lifton case which is in excellent condition and has a San Antonio sticker on the outside.
