Dreadnought Vintage Acoustic Guitar
with Spruce Top, Mahogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, Original Alligator Case - Sunburst Finish
Product Description
This is a fantastic sounding J-45 from 1950! This mahogany body, spruce top, vintage acoustic Gibson is one of the iconic models from the golden age of guitar building. The guitar has seen its share of expected repairs but is in great shape overall and ready for the next 75 years of action.
The top shows a medium amount of strum wear on either side of the fingerboard extension. The finish is well-checked and the back of the neck shows wear up and down. The nut has been replaced and the guitar has been refretted. The fingerboard shows divoting down low. The bridge was reglued, the screws were removed, and the pearl inlays were replaced. The guitar has a handful of top, side and back cracks that have been glued up. The bracing internally and the back seam have seen some regluing as well. Structurally the guitar is in excellent working order, the neck set is good, as is the intonation and string height. The bridge, plate, finish, and tuners all appear to be original.
The FON on the neck block is 4049. It weighs 3lbs 13oz. The neck is a full, round D shape with a nice shoulder. It measures .930 at the 1st and 1.045 at the 10th. Tonally it's clear, loud and expressive with warm mids and treble clarity. This one sounds as expected, and checks all the player boxes for a vintage J-45.
Ships in the original alligator case.
