Here we have a very clean 1983 Gibson ES-335 Dot. This natural finish guitar has aged beautifully and has a hint of birdseye in the body grain. It's in excellent condition for its age.

This model was produced in the early 80s when Gibson was beginning to take steps to correct the specifications of their various models. The Dot was their refresh of the classic late '50s ES semi-hollow. The specs included a maple body, maple center block, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, and of course dot inlays.

This guitar in particular has survived quite well. The hardware is all oxidized and smokey, and the natural finish has antiqued with age. There are some light surface scratches on the back, as well as a few small dings, and other faint marks. There are not really any dents or issues however. The finish looks brand new in certain ways when the light catches it. The binding edges are all sharp and crisp still without the clear coat wearing through. There are some faint cracks in the neck binding from the frets pushing through. The frets themselves are original, and though a few show very faint marks on them, they are mostly in original shape.

It weighs 8lbs 12oz. The neck is a nice C shape that fattens slightly up the register. It measures .850 to 1.000 at the 1st and 12th. The guitar growls when you dig in. It's very dynamic and easy to play under the picking hand. It navigates well up and down the fingerboard and has that classic ES-335 tone.
