Description
Here we have a nicely figured ES-175 from Gibson! This is a 1998 model in very good condition with the original case.
This one features a maple body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. It has parallel braces with dual humbuckers, an ABR-1 bridge with rosewood base, and a gold tailpiece. The guitar appears to be all original, though it has a non-Gibson strap button added next to the neck.
It has clearly been gigged a lot, but also well maintained, a true professional's instrument. The gold plating on the pickups and bridge are quite worn from extended use. The neck however is quite clean. There are numerous tiny dings and a number of topical scratches over the surface. There is a light patina and some light surface residue on the finish in areas as well. The guard shows quite a bit of pick wear and there is a touch of checking developing on the body. The corners of the headstock are quite clean and the original frets show light wear down low, but function correctly.
It weighs 7lbs 1oz. The neck measures .810 to .980 at the 1st and 9th frets. The neck feels like a modern C down low, but fattens slightly up the register. It hints at a flat apex but is fuller than other ES necks we've had. The guitar has an open acoustic tone and drives easily. It has a warm mid-range played intimately, but the maple brightness kicks in when pushed. It plays well in all positions though and is a fine example from the era.
Ships in the original hardshell case. The case has had the combination lock removed.
