Gibson Custom Shop '59 Les Paul Reissue 2003 - Washed Cherry

Here we have a really cool '59 Les Paul from 2003! This Gibson Custom Shop model has been heavily toured and shows a ton of natural wear and checking.

Specs include a flame maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. It has deluxe tuners, a stop tailpiece, and an ABR-1 bridge. The electronics include a set of Burstbucker pickups, along with CTS pots and bumblebee caps. This is a pre-VOS guitar and would have left the factory in new gloss condition.

Clearly this guitar has been played a ton. There is an extensive amount of buckle wear on the back, as well as chips, dings and scratches all over the surface of the instrument. The entire finish shows thin checking lines too. The frets show light indentations but play just fine. The jack plate has been changed to a metal one and the wire for the ABR-1 is gone. The original bridge pickup had been out of the guitar, but is now back in place. The other parts all appears to be original. There are no breaks. All of the wear appears to be honest touring player wear, not aftermarket aging.

The guitar weighs 9lbs 3oz. The neck measures .905 to 1.025 at the 1st and 12th. It has a deep C neck profile with a decent shoulder. It feels a touch larger than current R9 profiles but is still comfortable to play. The guitar is resonant and lively with tight, crisp mids and great clarity. It has a nice feel under the picking hand and plays easily up and down the fingerboard. The back of the neck is worn from playing and has a touch of a natural satin feel about it. The back color has faded slightly from the factory bright cherry, though the top color is still quite vibrant.

Overall a really cool piece that is fun to play. Ships in a black Gibson Custom Shop case with the slightly later star logo. There is no COA included, only the Bumblebee hang tag.
