2001 Gibson Custom Shop 1968 Les Paul Custom

A sweet Custom from an era with much less production and distribution from the Custom Shop. A natural flame top with the walnut back and neck similar to a goldtop reissue. Nice tight flame that has the look of Western Maple, with clean straight grain. The binding throughout is nicely antiqued on the body and neck. The guitar has a stamped serial number and the older Custom Shop badge on the headstock. This is from a time before the Custom Shop was issuing a Certificate of Authenticity for every guitar and there is the old "Art & Historic" logo on the case.

The instrument is in great condition considering that it can legally drink, with minimal play wear and signs of handling as well as a pleasing tarnish to the hardware. There is a touch of lacquer checking along the body binding near neck the neck joint. The back has a small ding centered on the body between the waist as well as two on the treble side lower bout. The back overall has more light scratches in the clear and wear. The headstock has a ding on the very end and there is lacquer checking around the logo, the split diamond inlay, and along the binding. The case is missing the compartment door and there is a diamond of adhesive velcro on the exterior between the lower two latches, with a healthy amount of wear throughout the case
