2015 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard True Historic
A Les Paul from the very narrow period of production of the True Historic models. The 2015 introduction of these guitars marked the first time Gibson offered a Les Paul with a complete hide glue construction. In addition, this model year marked a reformulation of the plastics Gibson was using for a more vintage accurate look and feel. These models included the previous iterations exacting detail as well. The tubeless truss rod, long neck tenon, Custombucker pickups, sliver of maple visible in the cutaway, period correct aniline back dye, and vintage accurate logo and truss rod cover placement all carried over to these instruments.
This guitar has a particularly stunning top that is set off by the Darkburst finish. The wide and fat flame has plenty of movement with just the right amount of grain and flecking visible through the burst finish. It is in overall excellent condition with just a handful of dings around the back edge and light signs of handling and playwear throughout. The neck binding has the bleed from the back dye that is ubiquitous on the reissues, which is also present on the body binding although much less prevalent. The frets from about 12 up have the tiny lacquer checks that form at the fret ends. Clearly a guitar that had been lovingly played and cared for over it's life and did not remain hidden in it's case
