Here we have a truly awesome Gibson Custom Shop '58 Explorer Flame Top! This one is from 2014 and it is in excellent condition.

This guitar essentially features R9 specs including a monster flame maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, and rosewood board. It has trapezoid inlays with a bound neck, larger 50s profile, and deluxe tuners. It has an ABR-1 bridge with stop tailpiece. The top is bound and the guitar is rear loaded without a pickguard. It has aftermarket double white DiMarzio pickups installed including a PAF Master in the neck and a Fortitude in the bridge. The tone pot has a push-pull installed for series-parallel control over the bridge pickup.

This guitar was built around the time of the Benchmark runs, though it came through a dealer in Europe. There are a few pinpoint dings on the back along with a few faint scratches. There are some impressions on the bass side of the body towards the strap button. The top and neck look clean as does the hardware. There are no major dents and no issues. Mostly this one looks to have been case kept and well cared for.

The guitar weighs 8lbs 3oz. The neck measures .860 to .990 at the 1st and 12th. It has a full carve, bigger than recent '59 Les Pauls, but not quite as big as early 2000s '58s. It's quite comfortable without too much shoulder. This guitar rips and sounds fantastic. It has plenty of resonance and sustain with natural reverb around the notes. It has a slinky feel and it is easy to bend on. Easily the coolest Explorer we've had.

Ships in the original Custom Shop case and includes the COA, checklist and hang tag. The original pickups are not included.
