Description
A killer classic, well aged from the Custom Shop at Gibson and originally sold by Wild Cat guitars in California. This guitar is an example of the period just before the introduction of the Murphy Lab aging structure, when the in house aging team was at the height of its skills. The aging on this goldtop is stellar, with convincing checking throughout and just the right amount of dings. The aging looks particularly good on the back, with the edges being roughed up in a way you see on many vintage guitars and some buckle rash at the bass side waist. The headstock also has a very appealing amount of wear, with a really great looking checking pattern and just the right amount of chips around the edges.
By 2019 the historic spec was dialed in to the exacting level of detail we see through to today. A complete hide glue construction, long neck tenon, and tubeless truss rod. The aesthetic appointments are period accurate as well, with the latest version of the historic plastics and correct logo and truss rod cover placement.
