Solid body Used Electric Guitar
with Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Mahogany Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, Dual Burstbucker Pickups - Goldtop VOS Finish
Product Description
A fine '57 from a bygone era of the Custom Shop. These models had some of the mainstay features of the Historic Reissue Les Pauls in place like the single ring Kluson tuners and period correct plastics. The finish is a rich and deep gold with the matching walnut back dye, as well as a nice looking rosewood board. This era featured the BurstBucker version of the PAF replicas. The bridge position has a 2009 sticker on the underside, while the neck position has a sticker that shows 2007. It's unclear whether the pickup is non-original or if Gibson was working its way through a stock of parts. The controls are a set of CTS pots with bumblebee capacitors, which are mounted standing slightly higher than what is usually seen. It is also unclear whether this was replacement wiring work or if it was the style from the factory at the time. A set of strap locks have been installed and the switch cover is a non-orignal black plastic as you would see on a burst top reissue, the goldtops normally have the brown plastic covers.
This Goldtop is in overall excellent shape, with a nice amount of natural tarnish on the hardware to match the VOS finish. The top has some tiny dings scattered around, although all are very light. The control knobs have the spider cracks emanating from the pot shaft that is so common on these. It is worst on the bridge volume control, with the crack surface along the 6 line on the knob. The sides and back edge have a few dings, but nothing that is causing checks in the clear or go down to the wood. The back has a good amount of buckle rash and worming, with a few dings scattered around as well. The headstock veneer has a bit of light scratching in the clear coat and there is a small ding on the treble side edge that blends into the neck, where it is common to see wear from a guitar hanger. There is only the very lightest fret wear in a few spots.
