Product Description

Here we have a beautiful Franklin Guitar Company OM from 1984! This 28-Style Orchestra Model was built by Luthier Nick Kukich in Sandpoint, ID.

Specs include a spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and ebony bridge. It has a bound neck and headstock, Schaller tuners, and a diamonds and squares short pattern inlay. The scale length is 25.4” and the nut width is 1 11/16”. It has a tapered X brace with two large tone bars and a rosewood bridge plate. The body has a 15” lower bout with a 3 3/4” depth, and the top features classic herringbone trim. The guitar also has an under saddle piezo with an endpin jack.

This OM is number 386, dated 2/9/1984 on the label and signed by Nick. It has been lovingly played and well maintained over the years. It has light strum wear through the finish on the top, as well as some other topical scratches and faint dings. The back too shows light topical scratches and a light patina, but nothing in the way of major damage. There are a couple of faint dings in the neck behind the first fret which are subtly noticeable while playing. The saddle is replaced with a modern compensated unit.

This one weighs 4lbs 6oz. The neck measures .780 to .870 at the 1st and 9th frets. It has a classic, vintage-feeling oval neck with a soft V apex. The guitar sounds great. It’s a lively instrument that speaks quickly. The notes have a warm, round bass frequency but with a crisp top end. It has excellent sustain with colorful overtones and good acoustic volume overall. It’s finely crafted and stands up to any OM-style instruments produced in the last few decades.

Ships in the original hardshell case.
