Fender Stratocaster HSS with Ron Ellis Pickups 1973 - Natural

Here is a cool vintage 1973 Fender Stratocaster in Natural! This guitar has had some mods and upgrades done over the years but remains an excellent player.

The pickups are upgraded to a Ron Ellis HSS set including an early humbucker from 2013 and dual Mid 60s single coils. This ash body maple neck guitar retains its original finish and bridge. The tuners are a set of double tab Schallers. The bridge pickup route has been opened up carefully to accommodate a humbucker. The pickguard is a modern mint green Warmoth part. The pots and electronics are changed. The guitar has been refretted and the nut is changed.

The guitar shows checking over the body along with minor dings and paint chips. The poly neck is in decent shape and the lacquer headstock face has ambered nicely. The neck date and other identifiers on the heel and body are in-tact. The refret plays fine but the edges could have been seated a touch better on the bass side. The original tuner screw holes are filled. The strap buttons are Dunlop locking units and the strap locks are included.

The guitar weighs 8lbs 8oz. The neck measures .860 to .910 at the 1st and 12th. It has a modern C profile that is quite familiar. The guitar plays evenly up and down the neck. It has a warm and mellow attack off the ash body, but still has good top end clarity.

The real magic is in the pickups though, which sound fantastic. The Mid 60s in this guitar are essentially an early iteration of the 64 set with a slightly different stagger and an exaggerated wind. The Mid 60s evolved into the 64S FATs which were quite overwound. The humbucker is a very early model, the first they made, close to their 50s LRP.

Ships in a later era Fender molded case and includes a set of Dunlop strap locks. There is no tremolo arm included. There are no other original parts included.
