Description
Here is a neat Fender ST62-55 Stratocaster, built in Japan. This guitar is in very good condition save for some notable paint chips.
This one has an A serial number with "Made in Japan" on the neck. The neck itself dates to November 1984. It features a basswood body, maple neck, rosewood board, and vintage white finish. It has bent "Fender Fender" saddles, a diecast tremolo block, and chrome hardware.
The body has some finish chipping on the lower side and back edge where it appears the guitar took a hit. There are some other fine dings and surface marks, but beyond the chips the body is actually in very good shape. The neck is pretty clean, though the back of it appears to have been rubbed lightly with steel wool. It has a worn-in satin feel with a touch of wood exposed at the apex down low. The hardware shows a bit of light wear and age. The frets look to be original and in good shape, and the fretboard is nice and dark.
This one weighs 7lbs 4oz. The neck measures .850 to .910 at the 1st and 12th. The neck is a 60s C profile as you'd expect. The guitar has nice body resonance with a notable band of bass present. It's a bit warmer and mellower sounding with the basswood / rosewood combo, though still clear with a Strat-like top end. It feels nice under the picking hand and bends easily when playing.
Overall a fun, excellent-playing Strat! Ships in a modern molded SKB S-style case. There is no tremolo arm included.
