Description

Here we have a super cool player’s vintage Precision Bass from Fender! This one has a 1963 neck paired to a 1965 body that sports an original Lake Placid Blue finish!

Specs include an alder body, maple neck, laminate rosewood fingerboard and clay dot inlays. It has threaded steel saddles, a multiply white guard, and open gear tuners. It is loaded with a grey bottom split P-Bass pickup.

The neck has had the truss rod replaced. There is a hole from a removed strap button on the back of the headstock. The neck finish, tuners and nut appear to be original. The frets may be replaced with vintage style wire and remain in good shape. The neck dates to August of 1963. It has a 5 digit serial number plate that was most likely original to the instrument the neck is from.

The body appears to be complete with the finish, pickguard, bridge, pickup, knobs and electronics all appearing to be original. A couple solder connections look to be touched up inside, there is a crack in the guard from shrinking near the input jack, and someone had installed the thumb rest on the bass side of the guitar leaving extra holes. The thumb rest, bridge cover and pickup cover are no longer with the bass. The pots date to the 18th and 22nd weeks of 1964.

This one weighs 8lbs 5oz. The neck measures .840 to .980 at the 1st and 12th frets. It has a nicely worn oval C neck profile that feels just right. The bass sets up well and plays great up and down the neck. Someone clearly loved this one and it shows a nice amount of wear concentrated on the back near the upper horn. This neck and body appear to have been together for a long time.

Ships in a vintage black and orange Fender case with no logo.
