2021 Fender Custom Shop Post Modern Strat

A feature rich modern Strat build that was custom ordered by Empire Music in Pittsburgh, one of the top independent Custom Shop dealers. The Post Modern guitars are a more recent addition to the Custom Shop line up, not tied to a specific year reissue and including many of the modern innovations in guitar building from the last few decades. This example is finished in a striking Faded & Aged Sage Green Metallic with a very interesting Relic package, featuring a few different levels of the distressing offered. The overall aging level is a Journeyman Relic, with lacquer checking throughout and only a few small dings scattered around the body. The hardware is treated with the Closet Classic level, which is a lighter Relic than Journeyman, so there is no rust spots but you do have the pleasing tarnish to the hardware. The neck was done in a Heavy Relic, so the finish is worn away giving you the great satin feel and there is the ever so cool look of heavy wear on the maple fretboard as well as plenty of fret ghosting.

The modern features of the guitar are most noticeable when it comes to playability. It features a 9.5" to 12" fretboard radius, fretted with 6105 Narrow Tall frets. The contoured neck heel gives you unfettered access to the upper reaches of the 21 fret neck. It is a two piece maple neck/fretboard with the '54 Soft "V" profile, a real fan favorite. Another nice addition is the deep '57 body contours, which sit nicely with the deeper belly cut and forearm contour. Factory installed Dunlop Straploks keep you locked in at all times.

A killer set of handwound pickups power the interesting wiring arrangement. It is a set of handwound Dual-Mag II pickups, with Alnico 5 magnets for the E to G string and bevelled Alnico 2 pole pieces for the B & E. The middle pickup is reverse wound-reverse polarity, giving hum cancelling operation in the 2 and 4 positions. With the cavity being factory coated in shielding paint, and shielding on the pickguard, you get very low noise in general. The wiring ties it all together, with the neck blend and Greasebucket circuits that have become so well loved with players. The neck blend circuits offers a master tone control on the middle knob, while the rear tone is replaced with a pot that blends the neck pickup in on position 1 and 2 as you turn down that control. This gives you access to the classic neck and bridge tones of a Tele as well as the ever unique sound of all three pickups on together. The Greasebucket 2 circuit is an added capacitor to retain the high end response of the pickups as you back off the volume control
