To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the iconic Stratocaster model, the Fender Custom Shop issued a '54 Limited Edition with a special livery called the Golden '50s. Fender tends to reserve 1954 reissue Stratocaster for special commemorative runs, they are virtually impossible to order otherwise.

 
While not entirely historically accurate, our Golden '50s Strat clearly earns its celebratory name from the gold hardware and gold anodized aluminum guard. Set off with a dirty white blonde finish, this guitar is otherwise a '54 reissue through and through. Features include an ash body, single piece quartersawn maple neck with skunk stripe, '54 "U" neck shape, correct single-ply tremolo cavity cover with round string holes, plus correct knobs and pickup covers. The guitar has a set of Custom Shop '54 Strat pickups in it. There are modern amenities too, including a 9.5" radius, narrow jumbo fretwire, and a 5-way switch. The nitrocellulose finish has been aged wonderfully, not quite as heavy as you might see in 2024, but tastefully done and quite heavy for the time period. The final touch to complete the package is that the serial number is stamped into the tremolo backplate, not the neck plate, as was correct for the earliest guitars built in 1954.

This guitar plays wonderfully. It's extremely resonant and full of sustain. It's dynamic under the picking hand and quite slinky feeling up and down the neck. It has a nice bass note with a glassy top end, and it is clear with a crisp attack. The flatter radius and larger frets really leave nothing more to be desired. It weighs 7lbs 6oz. The neck measures .900 at the 1st and .999 at the 12th.

The guitar is well preserved, exhibiting all factory wear. It ships in the original hardshell center pocket tweed case with the 60th Anniversary Stratocaster logo embroidered on the interior. It includes the COA, Cruz tool kit, polish cloth, cable, strap, tremolo arm, bridge cover, picks, anniversary catalog, hang tag, and paperwork. It's the complete Golden '50s package for any Strat collector!
