2022 Fender Custom Shop 1960 Telecaster Custom Journeyman Relic

A tastefully relic'd reissue of the top of the line Telecaster from the 60s, originally built for Dave's Guitar Shop. Set apart from many other Tele's with its double bound body and three tone sunburst, it is a classy looking Fender. The Custom Shop has captured the features of the 1960 era in all their glory. The guitar has a flat laminated, or "Slab", rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlays. The 3 ply pick guard is mint green, to simulate the nitro cellulose guards in use at the time that would discolor in this way. The decal is the thinner Fender logo, with gold font and a black outline, with Custom Telecaster just under it. The relic work on this one is superb and is a great approximation of the way a guitar slightly higher on the price list would have been played, but seen less use and abuse than some others. There is well executed lacquer checking throughout the body, which is somewhat subtle in a way that looks just as it would on a vintage piece. There are dings, dents, and scratches throughout the body with some light corrosion and tarnish to the hardware. The neck has just a touch of lacquer worn away on either side of the fretboard edge, in the cowboy chord position, and there are dings along the edges of the headstock.

As with many of the Custom Shop reissue, this one has some modern features that boost the playability and tone of the guitar. The radius is 9.5" with medium jumbo 6150 frets. The pickups are a handwound set of '58 Tele neck & bridge. The burst on this one is yet another testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the paint department at Custom Shop. The three tone burst is very vibrant with a great and even gradient, the red in the burst really pops nicely and blends into the yellow.
