Product Description

2000 Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster Closet Classic

An early example of an in house aged version of the classic Mary Kaye Strat from the Custom Shop. Beautifully grained ash body, finished in the timeless Vintage Blonde of a 50s Strat, with the highly figured birdseye maple necks that were so common on the late 90s and early 2000's Custom Shop guitars. Gold hardware and single ply pickguard complete the look, with a period correct three way selector switch. This one is an example from the first few years Fender had began aging guitars in house, after moving away from using Vince Cunnetto for the Relic'ing work. Closet Classic was on the lighter side of Relic'ing offered by Fender at the time, with a nice amount of checking, dings, and discoloration throughout but no spots of wear through the finish or exposed wood. The neck has a thinner, more satin feeling finish without any fret board wear.

The guitar is in excellent condition, especially considering the instrument is boarding on vintage status itself. There are only the most minor signs of handling and play, with just a touch of fret wear in the cowboy chord area.
