Fender Custom Esquire 1963 Sunburst

Solid body Vintage Electric Guitar - 3-Tone Sunburst Finish

Product Description

A beautiful vintage electric guitar from 1963, this Custom Esquire has proven to be one of our favorite vintage finds of all time. This came out of a collection that had been stored for around 40 years, from an owner who briefly toured with the instrument decades ago. We were stuck with the overall condition of the instrument, but also found it just a joy to play.

The Custom Esquire is a double bound (top and back of body) alder guitar, with a maple neck and rosewood board. It features the single bridge pickup without a neck pickup. The sides of the body feature a maroon finish that really complements the sunburst top and back finish. The clay dots on the board have aged nicely giving this guitar the perfect vintage look.

The body has light buckle wear on the back, there is a long scratch on the upper bout, and the finish is chipping at the body edges. The back of the neck shows some light finish wear down low. However, the metal parts are extremely clean, and parts of the finish that are not touched frequently like the face of the headstock appear near mint. Internally the controls are completely original, and again minty clean on the inside. Interestingly, you can tell the guitar was played quite a bit for a short period of time, then simply just put away.

The guitar plays effortlessly, and is quite loud acoustically. It is full of resonance, snap, and sustain. The pickup is bold and clear with a nice dynamic punch about it.

Overall one of the finest vintage Fender guitars we have had. Ships in the original blonde tolex case and includes the bridge cover.
