2012 Billy Corgan Signature Strat

An increasingly rare signature guitar for the Smashing Pumpkins front man, one of the avid Strat players of the 90's. This guitar is kitted out with some unique features and must have been a real stand out from the Fender line up at the time. The body wears a satin nitro cellulose lacquer, over alder, with a hard tail bridge that strings through the body. The one piece maple neck is finished in a satin urethane, for a great feel in the hand, with 22 frets. The combo of a 9.5" fretboard radius and jumbo frets yield great playability. The real engine of this instrument is the pickup set and wiring. It is equipped with the Corgan signature DiMarzio BC-1 and BC-2 in the bridge and neck position, respectively, and a DiMarzio Chopper in the middle. The wiring is very unique with these single coil size humbuckers. Position two is the middle pickup blended with the inner blade of the split bridge pickup. Position four is the middle pickup blended with the outer blade of the split neck pickup. In addition to this, the middle tone is wired to the neck pickup and the outer tone is wired to the bridge, leaving the middle position wide open. With this set up it is surprisingly easy to arrive at classic Siamese Dream era guitar tones, just pick your favorite flavor of Big Muff and you are off to the races.

The guitar is in overall great condition, especially for a satin finished instrument that has been in the wild for over ten years. There is a ding on the edge of the body just off of the control knobs, an oblong ding on the outer edge of the upper horn, a small ding on the back edge near the end pin, and a tiny pin head sized ding just next to the string ferrules. The original black pickguard has been replaced with a white three play guard. The guitar is in its original case with its hang tag and adjustment tools. Currently setup with a D'Addario EXL120 9-42 set, the gauge these shipped from the factory with.
