Here we have a beautiful Pueblo Pink Mariposa, the signature model of the incomparable Omar Rodríguez-López. After a stint with Ibanez, this is the second signature guitar for the At The Drive, Mars Volta, Bosnian Rainbows, and DeFacto guitarist who also has countless solo albums. This USA-built Music Man guitar is set apart by its strikingly unique yet comfortable to handle body shape. It's exceedingly difficult to design something that is simultaneously tonally and aesthetically pleasing, but the Mariposa does just that.
The body is okoume, paired with a roasted maple neck, and ebony fingerboard. The guitar is loud and resonant acoustically. It has a balanced tone that is warm, clear and neutral. The top end is not overly bright, and there is a nice round bass note present. It has nice woodieness about it too. Just simply a perfectly balanced tone to push through the pickups and amp. The guitar also sustains for days.
The Mariposa also features a 10" radius, 25.5" scale length, and 1 5/8" nut. It has a Music Man Modern tremolo bridge with bent steel saddles, dual custom wound Music Man humbuckers, locking Schaller tuners, matching painted headstock, and torrid maroon pickguard. Another feature we absolutely love about this model are the dual parallel volume controls, giving you proper volume independence for each pickup, along with standard 3-way toggle switching.
Overall this guitar is in excellent condition. It has a few small dings on the body, with one larger ding on the back of the instrument, as well as some light scratches. It doesn't seem to have been played much however beyond this. There is the lacquer check off of the neck pocket that is near ubiquitous on bolt neck guitars. The neck is .810 at the 1st and .920 at the 12th. It weighs in at 6lbs 8oz. Ships in the original hardshell case and includes the tremolo arm, paperwork, and Music Man care package with cleaning products.
