Description
Here we have a brand new Ernie Ball Music Man DarkRay 5-String Bass! This one is finished in Dark Rainbow with matte black hardware, a roasted maple neck, and an ebony fretboard.
The DarkRay at its core is a Stingray Special with neodymium humbucking pickup, but matched with a custom designed Darkglass clean 2-band active preamp. The preamp is extremely quiet with adjustable volume, gain, bass, treble, and blend controls to achieve the desired tone.
The Darkglass preamp offers two drive circuits: Alpha for tight distortion and Omega for fuzz. Both circuits are mixable via the onboard gain knob and blend control adjustable to your preference with no low-end loss. Via the 3-way lever switch, a bright color-coded LED ring is illuminated, signifying which mode the bass is in.
This particular bass weighs in at 8lbs 7oz. The neck measures .830 to .960 at the 1st and 12th. It has a C profile that feels familiar, with a 1 3/4" nut that is easy to play. The entire bass has great resonance and sustain. We really couldn't ask for more.
