Description
Here we have a 1983 Dean ML in Candy Apple Red! This one has been retrofitted with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo and has a body cavity repair.
Specs include a bound maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, ebony board, 24 frets, shrimpfork headstock, and dot inlays. It has Schaller tuners, an old school Floyd Rose with locking nut, gold speed knobs, and a 3-way toggle. It has a 24 5/8” scale length with a 1 11/16” nut width. The pickups include a proper Bill Lawrence in the bridge and a Duncan at the neck.
The guitar was a string through body model originally, but has been converted to Floyd Rose. It appears when the Floyd route was done, the body material between the trem route and humbucker route crumbled. It has been reinforced with a piece of wood. The candy apple finish is well-worn in areas, exposing the platinum pink undercoat. The guitar looks to have been refretted and the frets are in good shape.
It weighs 8lbs 7oz. The neck measures .860 to .930 at the 1st and 12th frets. It has a soft V profile with a medium depth and rounded feel. It plays great and sounds awesome with the Bill Lawrence. Beyond the Floyd modification and body repair, this guitar is otherwise a cool survivor!
Ships in a Dean hardshell case and includes the tremolo arm and strap locks.
