Description
The Benson Preamp is a FET-based preamp pedal derived directly from the circuit topology of Benson's Chimera 30-watt guitar amplifier. The vacuum tubes are replaced with FET transistors, but the signal path and EQ structure follow the amp closely — the goal being a pedal that responds and feels like the front end of the Chimera rather than a generic gain stage.
The gain range covers clean boost through overdrive and into fuzz territory, with the onboard Treble and Bass controls giving you meaningful tonal shaping at any gain level. It works well as a standalone drive pedal or as a preamp into a clean amp or audio interface.
