The Aclam Dr. Robert Overdrive V3 is a meticulous, sonic recreation of one of the rarest and most legendary amplifiers in rock history: the 1966 Vox UL730. Famously used by The Beatles on Revolver and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as Klaus Voormann and Joy Division, this hybrid solid-state/tube amp defined the biting, saturated guitar tones of the mid-to-late '60s. Because only a handful of original amps survive today, Aclam engineered the Dr. Robert to put that exact historical mojo directly onto your pedalboard.
By tracing the original factory schematics and analyzing their own pristine UL730, Aclam duplicated the unique preamp section and custom-shaped EQ character of the amp. Operating on an internal 15V circuit for maximum headroom and authentic tube-like dynamics, the Dr. Robert V3 delivers everything from pristine, chimney cleans to the aggressive, fuzzy overdrive that shaped alternative and psychedelic rock.
The "Mach Schau!" High-Gain Stage
Need to push your solo over the edge? The Dr. Robert features an independent, footswitchable high-gain section called Mach Schau! (named after the famous Hamburg club chant demanding high-energy performances). This secondary stage introduces extra saturation and volume, controlled by a dedicated Mach Schau! knob, letting you seamlessly switch between rhythm grit and searing, harmonic-rich lead tones.
