The 2015 Les Paul Classic specs were at the time, and remain to this day, a bit polarizing. The carved top single cutaway Les Paul had carried a set of basic specs for its entire existence, beginning in 1952. However in an effort to modernize the model and look to the future, 2015 saw a revamp of the Les Paul that would prove to be short-lived before consumer sentiment forced a return to traditional specs. The 2015 Les Paul specs that raised eyebrows included a wider neck with "extra space" on either side of the high and low E strings, an adjustable brass nut, a clip-in removable pickguard, and a dB boost switch where the bridge pickup tone pot had traditionally resided. The biggest shock however was the addition of "Robotuners", the G-Force Tunnig system with built-in servos that allowed the guitar to self-tune to a number of standard and open tuning presets. While these "upgraded" features were abandoned shortly afterwards, the 2015 models are quite usable and the self-tuning feature works wonderfully.
