The 1968 Telecaster really marks the beginning of the CBS era specs. Though CBS took control in 1965, it took time phase out the pre-CBS features. By this year the maple fretboard was an option on the price list. A maple board had been available for a few years, but mostly this model shipped with a rosewood fretboard throughout the 1960s. Additionally by 1968 the guitar would have a large black logo, poly finish body and neck, and plastic coated wiring.
