There are dents and dings throughout, some belt buckle rash/worming on the back, and hole on the bass side horn that has been filled where a strap button was once installed. It looks like someone hard a rough time installing the Mastery bridge thimbles into the body as it’s a bit rough around them.

I suspect the body is Fender, potentially from the late sixties or seventies. The pickguard looks to be original from the tortoise pattern and wear, it has the shrinking you see on vintage guards so many of the pickguard screws are at an angle. Several of the pickguard screw holes have been filled with toothpicks and wood glue. The cavity has the vintage Fender style brass shielding plates. The tailpiece appears the be a vintage example as well judging by the wear, with the “Fender” and “PAT# 2972925” stamp although later reissues are marked this way as well.

It appears the body was either completely refinished or oversprayed at some point, the peninsula of wood where the pickguard screw between the volume and tone knobs mount was split away at some point and that area is finished over in white. That pickguard mounting screw is missing. There is what looks like a soldering iron burn between the tone control and output jack as well as a dent on the corner of the neck heel and in the treble side cutaway.

The guitar is currently setup with 11-49 D-Addario XTE strings, the bridge height at the optimal 3mm off the body and the tremolo lock functioning. The Post Modern guitars are a more recent addition to the Custom Shop line up, not tied to a specific year reissue and including many of the modern innovations in guitar building from the last few decades. This example is finished in a striking Faded & Aged Sage Green Metallic with a very interesting Relic package, featuring a few different levels of the distressing offered. The overall aging level is a Journeyman Relic, with lacquer checking throughout and only a few small dings scattered around the body. The hardware is treated with the Closet Classic level, which is a lighter Relic than Journeyman, so there is no rust spots but you do have the pleasing tarnish to the hardware. The neck was done in a Heavy Relic, so the finish is worn away giving you the great satin feel and there is the ever so cool look of heavy wear on the maple fretboard as well as plenty of fret ghosting.

The modern features of the guitar are most noticeable when it comes to playability. It features a 9.5" to 12" fretboard radius, fretted with 6105 Narrow Tall frets. The contoured neck heel gives you unfettered access to the upper reaches of the 21 fret neck. It is a two piece maple neck/fretboard with the '54 Soft "V" profile, a real fan favorite. Another nice addition is the deep '57 body contours, which sit nicely with the deeper belly cut and forearm contour. Factory installed Dunlop Straploks keep you locked in at all times.

A killer set of handwound pickups power the interesting wiring arrangement. It is a set of handwound Dual-Mag II pickups, with Alnico 5 magnets for the E to G string and bevelled Alnico 2 pole pieces for the B & E. The middle pickup is reverse wound-reverse polarity, giving hum cancelling operation in the 2 and 4 positions. With the cavity being factory coated in shielding paint, and shielding on the pickguard, you get very low noise in general. The wiring ties it all together, with the neck blend and Greasebucket circuits that have become so well loved with players. The neck blend circuits offers a master tone control on the middle knob, while the rear tone is replaced with a pot that blends the neck pickup in on position 1 and 2 as you turn down that control. This gives you access to the classic neck and bridge tones of a Tele as well as the ever unique sound of all three pickups on together. The SB-12 features a 12" Jensen Concert speaker and is powered by a set of 12AX7 preamp tubes, 6L6 power tubes, and a 5AR4 rectifier tube. These more commonly found tubes mean the amp will continue to be serviceable for some time, avoiding the out of production tube issue found on so many vintage Ampeg amps. The lucite, light up logo panel on this example is custom engraved with the name "Johnny" which was a service that Ampeg was offering at the time. This era of production was shortly after Ampeg moved away from the classic blue checkered tolex to a smooth black vinyl, with a chrome window around the grill. It offers an instrument and bass input with a volume , treble, and bass control. The rear panel features an external speaker out jack, hum control, and two prong AC outlet.

The amp is in overall excellent condition considering it's age, with a few dings and tears in the tolex that are mostly around the bottom edges as well as some discoloration to the grill cloth. The speaker has been reconed and a three prong plug has been added. The 12" speaker is great for lower volume home use, but really shines when used for recording. The tone is nicely focused without too much mud and flub found with a larger speaker. An upgrade to a modern bass speaker would be ideal to set the amp up for gigging and playing alongside a band, being a bit smaller and handier than the larger B-15 it would probably suite this application very well. Its current format makes it an exceptional guitar amp as well. The multiple inputs and tone circuit yield a wide range of tones from the single channel, getting pretty raucous with the volume turned into the upper range. It does remain fairly clean over a good portion of the volume control, it would surely make a great pedal platform for a good sized board.

Serial number 062727

Original cover, baffle/casters, and warranty card included

Chase Bliss CXM 1978 Stereo Reverb

Serial number 00750

In excellent condition with some wear on the edges of the wooden ears

Velcro added

Box and paperwork included

Chase Bliss Gravitas Analog Tremolo

An increasingly rare, early example of the now discontinued tremolo from Chase Bliss in the wooden box

Serial number 01689

In excellent condition with light wear and velcro added

Box, paperwork, and pedal sack included

Chase Bliss Tonal Recall

An increasingly rare, early example of the now discontinued and sought after delay from Chase Bliss in the wooden box powered by a pair of Xvive MN3005 Chips

Serial number 02348

Light wear and tarnish to the housing

Box, paperwork, and pedal sack included

ESP Jazz Bass

Most likely from the 80s or 90s back when ESP could use the Fender headstock shape. This instrument comes from a time with significantly less production and options from the Custom Shop, especially low output from the Masterbuilt program. In this example the iconic NoCaster has been dressed up in an all black finish, with a fairly heavy relic job for the time. It has plenty of finish worn away and chips along the edges, with great looking checking throughout the body. At the time this must have been a real standout from the relic work of the teambuilt production. The nitro finish is nicely sunken into the grain of the ash body and the forearm wear is very convincing, with the under coat being exposed along the edge. The hardwear is well tarnished and the pick guard has the ubiquitous spot of wear seen on black guards. The lacquer on the neck is beautifully tinted and the guitar is assembled with flathead screws, a historically accurate touch on the NoCasters.

The guitar is in great shape overall, with no wear that is outside of the relic work. This one is a very heavy relic, bordering on the super heavy relic guitars seen in current Custom Shop production. Certain areas are faded lighter while other spots appear dark and smokey, with the under coat showing in spots a nice touch from Fender. The finish has a substantial amount of checking on the body with an accurate variation in size and amount of grime worked into the lacquer checks. The neck has most of the finish worn away in the playing area, exposing the wood and the comfortable feel that so many are after with Relic'd instruments. This was a run of three guitars that were constructed from reclaimed woods, this being the version built from old-growth redwood used in the 1933 construction of bridges just east of Bakersfield CA. The bridges were Civilian Conservation Corps and Civilian Works Administration job creation projects during the Great Depression which were decommissioned in 2012, with some of the timbers acquired for this special Strat. There were two Telecasters that accompanied this model in the run, one that was also constructed of Redwood and another made with reclaimed pine.

The guitar has some great modern playability features. The fretboard is a 9.5" to 12" compound radius with medium-jumbo frets, on a channel bound neck. This neck construction is the rosewood fret board set into the maple neck, giving the appearance of binding and the feel of a one piece maple neck. The bridge is a modern 2 point Fender bridge with bent saddles, which functions very smoothly and holds pitch under more intense use. A very unique feature on this guitar is the hand applied oil finish, which allows the body to resonate freely and accentuates the beauty of the wood and is seen rarely, if at all, on other Fender models. The oil finish neck gives a very smooth feel and a laser etched Fender logo ties the minimal look together.

This example has been modified with a custom wired pickguard done by FSC guitars in Brooklyn NY, with Fender pots and switch. A set of Custom Shop '54 Strat pickups are installed onto a Fender gold anodized guard, with a Seymour Duncan Little '59 in the bridge. The wiring is fairly unique with a master volume and tone, freeing up the back tone control to be used as a neck blend pot. In position 1 & 2 the neck pickup is blended in as you roll the potentiometer down, giving you access to the classic Tele neck & bridge tones or the unique sound of all three pickups on. A push/pull pot on the volume control splits the bridge pickup, topping off the switching options.

The thin oil finish has yielded a beautiful natural relic on the instrument after a decade of play and gigging. There are dents, dings, and scratches throughout the body. The edges are particularly well worn, especially the back just opposite of the input jack. There is a healthy amount of buckle rash between the neck plate and tremolo cavity. A ding and the surrounding area just north of the neck pickup was touched up by FSC guitars during the wiring installation. The neck is free of damage, yet has begun to get the pleasing discoloration that happens on an oil finished maple neck with play. The body suffered a split at the treble side post of the bridge, which received a sturdy repair from Mobile Guitars in Queens NY.

Serial Number US140848

6 lbs 8 oz

.82" at the first fret to .87" at the twelfth fret

Setup with D'Addario EXL110 10-46 strings

Black case with black interior

Original pickguard/wiring harness, back plate, tremolo arm, hang tag, and '54 bridge pickup included

Happy to provide additional pictures or answer any questions.

1965 Fender Stratocaster

A late example Strat from the "L Series" of serial numbers, on the neck plate, with a neck stamp of March of 1965. The solder joint for the ground wire was touched up, most likely having worked loose from a rotating jack that put tension on the joint and wires. The guitar displays the pleasing amount of wear of a well played instrument that the current Relic builds are trying so hard to emulate. There are plenty of dings, dents, and scratches on the top. The back edge of the treble side waist has a good amount of finish worn away, along the body downs towards the jack with a few slightly deeper dings. The neck has the round laminated fretboard and pearl dots, which in conjunction with the small headstock and gold transition logo is a hallmark of this year of production. A set of strap locks have been installed and the switch cover is a non-orignal black plastic as you would see on a burst top reissue, the goldtops normally have the brown plastic covers.

This Goldtop is in overall excellent shape, with a nice amount of natural tarnish on the hardware to match the VOS finish. The top has some tiny dings scattered around, although all are very light. The control knobs have the spider cracks emanating from the pot shaft that is so common on these. It is worst on the bridge volume control, with the crack surface along the 6 line on the knob. The sides and back edge have a few dings, but nothing that is causing checks in the clear or go down to the wood. The back has a good amount of buckle rash and worming, with a few dings scattered around as well. The headstock veneer has a bit of light scratching in the clear coat and there is a small ding on the treble side edge that blends into the neck, where it is common to see wear from a guitar hanger. Forearm wear is very prevalent on this one as are chips along the edges and some clustered dings and pitting. The back has a ton of wear around the edges, with the finish worn off, and accurate looking wear and chips around the control cavity. The curly maple is very uniform as well, up the length of the neck to the very end of the headstock. The bridge, fretboard, and headstock inlay are done in abalone, as is the Gibson logo and sound hole rosette. The bound headstock and gold Kluson tuners tie together the classy look of this instrument.

These guitars were put out as a limited edition to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the introduction of the J-200, only 75 were built. Gibson used a platform that had been developed for a signature model for Emmylou Harris, which was a slightly shrunken Jumbo. The lower bout width on this model and the Emmylou is 15", as opposed to the 17" width of the standard J-200. The classy visual appointments were added to the standard J-200 features. A rosewood fretboard and mustache bridge, "Bird beak" nib on the neck binding, multi-ply body binding, three piece neck, and engraved pickguard are all hallmarks of the iconic Jumbo. An L.R. Baggs element system electrified this model from the factory and it wears the custom shop badge on the back of the headstock.

The guitar is in great overall condition, not surprising for a show piece such as this. There is a tiny ding just off of the nib of the pickguard and another on the back near the body binding at the treble side lower bout. There is lacquer checking along the seam of the heel cap and in a few spots on the body binding on the front and back as well as along the headstock binding.

Serial Number 11252028

4 lbs

.82" at the first fret to .88"at the ninth fret

D'Addario XT string set, 12-53 phosphor bronze

Black tolex case with blue interior and Gibson Acoustic badge

Final inspection checklist included

A guitar that is as unique as it is rare, would surely make a beautiful centerpiece to a collection of Gibson flattops. This Les Paul was a commission with the obviously extremely unique finish that is compromised of ticket stubs and back stage passes. The top shows off the ticket stubs while the back is adorned with the back stage passes over a black finish. A white stinger on the back of the headstock is another rare feature, as is the "Custom Shop" banner inlaid on the headstock veneer around a horizontal Les Paul silk screen. The Gibson logo, CS banner, fretboard blocks, and side dots are all inlaid in abalone which is particularly striking for the fretboard. The tuners are an unusual "Grover" style of Schaller tuners, with a Nashvile bridge on this one. The serial number is customize as well with the prefix GS, a spin on the normal CS prefix, which were the initials of the person who commissioned the build. The serial number shares the back of the headstock with the Gibson Custom Shop badge of the time.

The guitar is in overall great shape considering it's age at this point. The top has some scattered lines of checking in the clear coat. These are mainly emanating from the usual spots: the tailpiece and bridge post, the pickup ring mounting screws, the pots, along some areas of the binding, and the neck joint. The sides are fairly clean, save for one tiny nick by the jack plate. The back shows some lines of checking around the control cavity, switch cavity, and from the binding in a few spots. The headstock veneer shows the lacquer checking that outlines the logo and inlay as well as along the edge of the binding at the tip of the headstock. The hardware is nicely tarnish with a pleasing patina.
